While We Wait

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

In the middle of this recent year of trials, a worship song came onto Spotify and within seconds it evoked a flood of tears.

The lyrics were…..

“So take courage my heart. Stay steadfast my soul. He's in the waiting. He's in the waiting. And hold onto your hope. As your triumph unfolds. He's never failing. He's never failing.

Sing praise my soul, Find strength in joy, let His words lead you on. Do not forget His great faithfulness. He'll finish all He's begun.” -Bethel Music & Kristine DiMarco

God Is In The Waiting.

Oh how I needed to hear that. I had learned and even studied this concept before, but apparently my heart had forgotten it. I remember slinking down against the wall to the floor with tears streaming down my face and just listening intently to the words that my heart needed to hear.

That even as I wait and question and wonder - and things don’t feel at all in my control - God is in that.

So, dear ones, as you continue to wait out this pandemic, know that this passing of time isn’t all for naught. Miraculous work can be done in our hearts when we wait.

It is hard. But there can be good in it.

-There can be good because God refines us in times of waiting. “For He is like a refiner’s fire.”-Malachi 3. Did you ever hear what that actually means? A refiner’s fire does not consume like the fire of an incinerator - it refines and purifies. It melts down the bar of gold, separates and removes the impurities that ruin its value, and leaves the gold in tact and worth its full value. Friends, God is in the process of bringing to the surface and removing much of the gunk in our hearts if we allow Him to. May we come out of this pandemic with our characters more refined and even more beautiful.

-There can be good because it reminds us that we are not in control. Sometimes we need to be put in our place and realize that just as a hamster on a wheel exerts so much effort and yet gets nowhere, so it is with our efforts to manage our lives. It is healthy to step back and let the Ruler of this world rule the world. 👑 There are often a million things playing out that we do not know about - that God is beautifully orchestrating and ordering and getting just right - at exactly the right time.

-There can be good because it reveals our weakness. And it is in our weakness that we experience God’s strength the very most. 2 Corinthians 12:9-11. Come to God in your utter weakness, communicate your needs. He stands there ready to help.

Finally today, find rest in these beautiful verses:

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” - 1 Peter 5:10

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.” - Job 23:10

Praying for you as you wait.
